Biography

Senator Jack Williams

Jack Williams is a Republican representing District 34 in the Alabama State Senate. Born in Mobile County in 1955, Williams is a lifelong resident of Wilmer, Alabama, and a fourth-generation farmer who has lived his entire life in his district. He is a graduate of Mary G. Montgomery High School and earned his bachelor's degree from Southeastern Bible College in 1983.

Williams is a businessman and publisher who owns and operates the J Bar W farm, where he and his wife raise cattle, timber, and hay. He expanded into the nursery business in 1986 by founding Twin Oaks Nursery in Wilmer and later acquired Tom Dodd Nurseries in Semmes. His son, John, now owns and manages the nursery operations, while his grandson manages day-to-day operations at the cattle farm.

Williams has been married to his wife, Bobbie, for approximately 47–50 years. Together, they are raising their two grandchildren and are active members of Wilmer Baptist Church and supporters of 4-H.

Education

Williams graduated from Mary G. Montgomery High School and earned his bachelor's degree from Southeastern Bible College in 1983.

Political Experience

Williams was first elected to the Alabama House of Representatives, representing District 102, serving one term before his election to the Alabama State Senate on November 6, 2018. He assumed office on November 7, 2018, and was re-elected in the general election on November 8, 2022.

In the State Senate, Williams serves as Chair of the Mobile County Legislation Committee and Vice Chair of both the Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee and the Banking and Insurance Committee. He also serves on the Children and Youth Health, Confirmations, Healthcare, and Transportation and Energy committees, as well as the Permanent Legislative Committee on Reapportionment.

During his legislative tenure, Williams has championed conservative causes, including leading efforts to ban lab-grown meat, cutting taxes on agricultural fencing, and legalizing baiting for deer and feral pig hunting. He has been recognized for his dedication to conservative values and his advocacy for southwest Alabama farmers, small business owners, and rural communities.
