Biography

Jack Whitver is a Republican state senator representing District 23 in Iowa, serving Polk County and residing in Grimes. Born on September 4, 1980, in Knoxville, Iowa, he was raised in Grinnell as a lifelong Iowan. A businessman, entrepreneur, and attorney, he founded Acceleration Iowa in 2004 and has grown multiple small businesses. He serves as Iowa Senate Majority Leader, a position he has held since 2018 after being elected Senate President from 2017 to 2018. Elected to the Iowa Senate in 2011, he has been reelected multiple times, including after the 2020, 2022, and 2024 elections, and currently serves in his term from 2025 to 2027. He is a member of committees including Appropriations, Commerce, and Rules and Administration, and attends the Lutheran Church of Hope. Whitver and his wife, Rachel, have three children: two daughters and one son.

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Earned a B.S. in exercise science and M.B.A. from Iowa State University, where he was a three-year starter as wide receiver for the Cyclones football team. Graduated from Drake University Law School in 2012 and was named to the Drake Law Review in 2010.
