Biography
Jack Stewart is a Republican state senator representing Oklahoma Senate District 18, which covers parts of Canadian County including Yukon. He was elected in 2022 after defeating Hunter Zearley in the Republican primary and sworn in on November 16, 2022. A civil engineer with over 40 years of experience, Stewart has focused on infrastructure, transportation, and economic development. He previously served three terms as Canadian County Commissioner for District 3, overseeing design, construction, and maintenance of over 300 miles of roadways. Before that, he worked 31 years for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation as a maintenance engineer for a nine-county division and later in the private sector with firms like Carter & Burgess and on the Yukon Traffic Commission. Notable achievements include chairing the Canadian County Long-Term Disaster Recovery Committee, serving as president of the Oklahoma Traffic Engineers Association, and holding positions on boards such as the Central Oklahoma Water Resources Authority, Yukon Veterans Museum, and Central Oklahoma Workforce Innovation Board. Married to Jan for over 40 years, they have three daughters in education and four grandchildren, and attend Covenant Community Church in Yukon.
