Biography
Senator Jack Bailey ** represents **District 29 in Maryland, encompassing Calvert and St. Mary's Counties. Born on August 27, 1965, he has served in the Maryland State Senate since January 9, 2019, after defeating incumbent Stephen M. Waugh in the Republican primary and Democrat Thomas Brewer in the general election with 60.2% of the vote. A lifelong Southern Marylander and 30-year veteran of the Maryland Natural Resources Police , Bailey rose through ranks including corporal, sergeant, Covert Operations Unit Supervisor, adjutant/legislative liaison, and executive assistant to the superintendent. He is a vocal advocate for law enforcement, first responders, Second Amendment rights, fiscal responsibility, rural heritage, hunting/fishing rights, and Southern Maryland agriculture. Notable achievements include sponsoring 47 successful bills, securing over $320 million in state funding for District 29 projects, chairing the Maryland Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus, passing permanent funding for the Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commission , sponsoring the "Right to Hunt & Fish" legislation, strengthening penalties for sex offenders and impaired drivers, and supporting veterans' initiatives like the "Keep Our Heroes Home Act."
