Biography

Israel D. O'Quinn is a Republican member of the Virginia House of Delegates representing the 44th District, which includes parts of Russell and Washington Counties and the City of Bristol. Born on March 5, 1980, in Abingdon, Virginia, he was first elected on November 8, 2011, and has served continuously since 2012. He currently holds the position of Deputy House Republican Leader and serves on key committees including Commerce and Energy, Privileges and Elections, Transportation, and Rules. Notable achievements include past chairmanship of the Bristol Chamber of Commerce , past chairmanship of the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center Board of Directors, co-chairmanship of InvestSWVA , membership in the legislative Coal and Energy Commission, and service on the Emory & Henry College Board of Trustees. He has received awards such as The Business Journal's Top 40 Under 40 and Emory & Henry College's Young Alumnus of the Year. O'Quinn resides in Washington County with his wife, Emily, a corporate external affairs professional involved in business and philanthropic initiatives.

  • Education: Graduated from Patrick Henry High School in Glade Spring, Virginia; earned B.A. degrees in Political Science and History from Emory & Henry College in 2002, where he played on the varsity baseball team.
