Iris Sánchez
Iris Noemi Sánchez is a Democratic state representative from Connecticut representing the 25th House District in New Britain. She is 50 years old and originally from Carolina, Puerto Rico, currently residing in New Britain.
Sánchez was sworn in as State Representative for the 25th district on January 13, 2026, following a special election victory in early January 2026. She won the special election by a decisive margin, receiving 356 votes compared to 181 votes for her Republican opponent, Jamie Vaughan. She succeeded Bobby Sanchez, a Democrat who vacated the House seat after winning election as mayor of New Britain in November 2025.
Political Experience
Prior to her election to the state House, Sánchez served as a five-term member of New Britain's Common Council, demonstrating a sustained commitment to local governance and community representation.
