Irene Haines is a Republican state representative serving Connecticut's 34th District, which includes the towns of East Haddam, East Hampton, and Salem. She currently holds the position of Assistant House Republican Leader and serves on the Education, Finance, Revenue and Bonding, and Planning & Development Committees.

Education and Political Experience

Haines was first elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives in November 2018 and won her fourth term in November 2024, with her current term ending in 2027. Prior to her legislative role, she served as first selectman of East Haddam and president of the East Haddam Business Association, and she was a founding board member of East Haddam News and a business sector leader with the Local Prevention Council. Her professional background includes work as an insurance sales agent, marketing manager, and small business owner.
