Biography
Ira Hansen is a Republican state senator representing District 14 in Nevada, which includes parts of Elko, Eureka, Humboldt, Lander, Pershing, and Washoe counties. Born in Reno in 1960, he grew up in the area, attended Washoe County schools, and met his wife, Alexis, at Sparks High School. He is a licensed master plumber, mechanical contractor, and general contractor who owns Ira Hansen and Sons Plumbing and Heating, Inc., one of Northern Nevada's premier plumbing companies. Previously a columnist for the Elko Daily Free Press , he is an Eagle Scout, lifetime member of Nevada Bighorns Unlimited, NRA affiliate, and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Notable roles include Assistant Majority Floor Leader in the Nevada Assembly and chair of committees like Judiciary .
