Ilana Rubel is a Democratic state representative serving Idaho House District 18A since 2014. She has served as House Democratic Leader since 2019 and is known for her grassroots efforts, including knocking on over 15,000 doors to connect with constituents. Notable achievements include sponsoring legislation for teacher pay and benefits, optional full-day kindergarten funding, insurance coverage for children's hearing aids, and the Homeowner Solar Rights bill, which quadrupled rooftop solar installations in Idaho. She has received the Cecil Andrus Conservation Award from the Idaho Conservation League and the Environmental Champion Award from Conservation Voters of Idaho. Rubel co-founded the non-profit Idaho Business for the Outdoors, serves on Boise State University's Honors College Advisory Board and the National Association of Jewish Legislators Board, and previously served on the Governor’s Task Force on Higher Education. She serves on the House Committee on Judiciary, Rules and Administration. Raised by a single mother, she moved to Boise over 20 years ago with her husband and is the mother of four children who attended Boise public schools; her family enjoys Idaho's outdoors through biking, hiking, fishing, skiing, camping, and rafting. Professionally, she worked as senior counsel at Fenwick & West LLP and as an associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP.
