Biography

Ian Goodnow is a Democrat representing Windham-9 in the Vermont House of Representatives, serving since 2025. A resident of Brattleboro in Windham County, he practices law with a focus on criminal defense, civil litigation, and family law at Costello, Valente, and Gentry, P.C. Notable achievements include serving on the Brattleboro Selectboard from 2020–2024 , acting as a Justice of the Peace , and completing the Vermont Law Office Study Program to join the Vermont Bar in 2022. He is a member of the Vermont Bar Association and Windham County Bar Association, and serves on the House Committee on Judiciary, including the Canvassing and Judicial Rules Committees. Goodnow lives in Brattleboro with his wife, Ruth, and their cat, Valentina.
