Biography
Hoang Nguyen is a Democratic representative for District 23 in the Utah House of Representatives, covering Salt Lake and Summit counties. She began her legislative service on January 1, 2025. A Vietnamese refugee who arrived in the United States with her family in 1983, she was raised on the west side of Salt Lake City and embodies a people-first leadership approach rooted in her family's entrepreneurial legacy.
Notable achievements include serving as Managing Partner of Sapa Investments and CEO of Dragonfly Wellness, a vertically integrated medical cannabis company in Utah, where she grew the family business to over 500 employees across five divisions. She chairs the Midtown Business District Board, representing over 500 businesses in downtown Salt Lake City, and holds positions on the Advisory Committee for the Gerald E. King Women's Center, the Utah Cannabis Association board, and the Main Street America Board for Price City. Her projects promote inclusion, job creation, and entrepreneurship, such as Food Alley, the Foundry Project, Food Hub, affordable housing, food access in deserts, and medical cannabis for low-income individuals.
