Biography
Hillman Terome Frazier is a Democratic State Senator representing District 27 in Hinds County, Mississippi, which includes the Clinton and Jackson Public School Districts. Born on July 17, 1950, he is a native of Jackson and has served in the Mississippi Senate since 1993, following 13 years in the Mississippi House of Representatives. He chairs the Senate Housing Committee, vice-chairs the Universities and Colleges Committee, and serves on committees including Appropriations, Elections, Interstate and Federal Cooperation, Investigate State Offices, Judiciary Division A, and Public Health and Welfare. Notable achievements include authoring the Compulsory School Attendance and Public Kindergarten Bills , leading ratification of the 13th Amendment in 1995, making Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday a state holiday, passing the Mississippi Crime Victims Compensation Act, authoring the Landlord Tenant Act, and removing breastfeeding from indecent exposure laws in 2006. He resides in Jackson with his wife Jean Maria and family.
