Hector Edward Arzeno is an Argentine-born American businessman, banker, and politician serving as a Democratic member of the Connecticut House of Representatives for District 151, which covers parts of Greenwich. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he immigrated to the US in 1974, became a citizen in 1987, and settled in Greenwich in 1986, where he raised four children. A retired banking executive with over 40 years in international finance, he held roles such as President and CEO of Banesto Banking Corporation and co-founded an Inter-American Financial Institution. Notable achievements include being the first Democrat to hold the District 151 seat, winning election in 2022 after a prior loss in 2020, and re-election in 2024. In his term, he sponsored bills on artificial intelligence regulation, including requirements for AI systems and an AI Advisory Council to address synthetic misinformation.
