Biography
Hector Edward Arzeno is an Argentine-born American businessman, banker, and politician serving as a Democratic member of the Connecticut House of Representatives for District 151, which covers parts of Greenwich. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he immigrated to the US in 1974, became a citizen in 1987, and settled in Greenwich in 1986, where he raised four children. A retired banking executive with over 40 years in international finance, he held roles such as President and CEO of Banesto Banking Corporation and co-founded an Inter-American Financial Institution. Notable achievements include being the first Democrat to hold the District 151 seat, winning election in 2022 after a prior loss in 2020, and re-election in 2024. In his term, he sponsored bills on artificial intelligence regulation, including requirements for AI systems and an AI Advisory Council to address synthetic misinformation. He serves on the Education, Environment, Higher Education, and Employment Advancement Committees.
