Biography
Heather Boyd
Heather Boyd is a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing the 163rd district in Delaware County. She was elected to this position via special election on May 16, 2023, and was sworn in on June 5, 2023, succeeding Michael Zabel who resigned following a sexual harassment controversy. Her victory maintained Democrats' one-seat majority in the Pennsylvania House at that time.
Education and Professional Background
Boyd has extensive experience in education, having worked as a history and art history teacher at both the high school and college levels. She transitioned into political work, serving as chief of staff to Pennsylvania State Representative Leanne Krueger and as district director and senior advisor to Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon.
Political Experience
Before her election to the state House, Boyd served on the Upper Darby School Board from 2015 to 2018. In the state House, she currently serves on three committees: Game & Fisheries, Health, and Labor & Industry. She won her special election with 60.10% of the vote, securing 9,369 votes.
