Harry Benton is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing the 97th District since January 2023. A fourth-generation Will County resident and union ironworker by profession, he grew up in Crest Hill, attended Richland Grade School and Lockport Township High School, and now lives in Plainfield with his wife Erin, whom he married in 2011. Benton previously served as a Plainfield village trustee after winning election in 2019 and was the unsuccessful Democratic nominee for the 97th District in 2020.

Notable achievements include advocating for government transparency, supporting small businesses and economic development, holding the line on taxes, and improving infrastructure as a trustee. In the House, he has opposed some party-backed tax increases, supported cracking down on "junk fees," delivered property tax relief, protected women's reproductive rights, and worked to lower healthcare costs by challenging insurance and drug companies.
