Biography
Harold Moses Love Jr., born December 14, 1972, in Nashville, Tennessee, is a Democratic member of the Tennessee House of Representatives representing District 58. He is the youngest of five children and the only son of the late Rep. Harold M. Love Sr., a longtime Tennessee legislator and Nashville city councilman, and Mary Y. Love. An ordained Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, he serves as Pastor of Lee Chapel AME Church in Nashville. Love is married to attorney Leah Love, owner of Dupree Consulting Group. Notable positions include House Democratic Assistant Leader and President of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators. He serves on committees such as Finance, Ways and Means; Insurance; TennCare Subcommittee; Education; Local Government; and others, plus the Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations and Tennessee Second Look Commission.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated with honors from Whites Creek High School ; earned a B.S. in Economics and Finance from Tennessee State University ; Master’s in Theological Studies from Vanderbilt University School of Divinity ; Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration from Tennessee State University .
- Political Experience: Elected to the Tennessee House for District 58 in 2012, continuing his family's political legacy. Raised in North Nashville, he was mentored by his father in local politics from a young age.
