Biography
Hal Slager is a Republican member of the Indiana House of Representatives representing District 15, which includes Schererville, Griffith, Dyer, and St. John in Northwest Indiana. A retired Certified Public Accountant , he has served multiple terms in the House: from 2012 to 2018, and currently as incumbent since November 2020 after reclaiming the seat. Prior to state service, he served 10 years on the Schererville Town Council , where he resolved drainage issues, expanded wastewater treatment, and negotiated incentives for a $100 million shopping center attracting retailers like Whole Foods and Nordstrom Rack. Notable legislative achievements include authoring bills on reconciling electronic voting systems, updating property tax sale processes, and co-authoring school funding measures using reserves. He is married to Carol , with two sons, and is involved in community roles like treasurer for Schererville Civic Funds. He is Roman Catholic.
