Biography

Guy Ward is a Republican politician representing District 74 in the West Virginia House of Delegates. Born and raised in Grafton, West Virginia, he graduated from Grafton High School in 1974 and entered public service early, serving on the White Hall Town Council starting in 1997 for 14 years. He was appointed to the Marion County Commission in 2012, elected Mayor of White Hall in 2013 , and made notable achievements such as resolving the town's financial troubles by cutting police department overspending and recovering nearly $250,000 in lost wine and liquor taxes from state mismanagement. Ward served in the House from 2016 to 2022 , lost a 2022 primary to Mike DeVault, but was reappointed to District 74 on January 28, 2026, to replace DeVault. A dedicated volunteer, he has been involved with Kiwanis, Rotary, Lions Club, and boards like Valley Falls State Park Foundation, West Virginia Three Rivers Festival, and Marion County Historical Society.
