Guy Palumbo

Guy F. Palumbo was born in 1973 and is an American politician and businessman. He was one of Amazon's first 800 employees early in his career before transitioning into public service and later returning to the technology sector.

Political Experience

Palumbo served as a Democratic state senator representing Washington's 1st district, which includes Snohomish County. He was a one-term state senator who resigned from his position in May 2019. During his tenure, he sponsored cloud computing legislation that was favorable to Amazon's interests and was reprimanded by the Democratic Party as a state senator.

Following his resignation from the Senate, Palumbo joined Amazon as Director of Public Policy, leading the company's Washington state policy team. In this role, he registered as a lobbyist and oversaw Amazon's government relations efforts in the state, expanding the public policy team from two to three staff members.

Derek Stanford succeeded Palumbo in the state senate following his departure.
