Biography
Griff Griffitts
Philip Wayne "Griff" Griffitts Jr. is a Republican member of the Florida House of Representatives representing District 6. Born August 29, 1971, in Panama City, Florida, Griffitts is a third-generation Bay County resident and the son of Philip Griffitts Sr., a former mayor of Panama City Beach.
Griffitts resides in Panama City Beach with his spouse, Laura Griffitts. He has two children: Katherine Elizabeth "Katie" and Anna Claire. His recreational interests include fishing, golfing, surfing, and spending time with family.
Education
Griffitts graduated from Bay High School in 1989 and earned a political science degree from Florida State University in 1993.
Political Experience
Before his election to the state legislature, Griffitts served in local government roles:
- County Commissioner : Represented District 5 on the Bay County Commission, which encompasses all of Panama City Beach, and served as immediate past chairman of the County Commission
- Panama City Beach Civil Service Board: Six years of service
- Bay County Planning Commission: Nine years of service
- Bay County Tourist Development Council: Current member
Griffitts was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in November 2022, defeating Brian Clowdus in the Republican primary and succeeding Jay Trumbull. He was subsequently reelected and is currently serving his term, with eligibility through 2030.
Occupation
Griffitts is a small business owner. He and his brother co-own a home construction business and previously owned and operated a hotel and hospitality business in Panama City Beach.
