Gretchen Dobervich

Political Party: Democratic-NPL

District: District 11

Gretchen Dobervich was born on February 4, 1973. She has served as a representative in the North Dakota House of Representatives since her appointment in 2016, being elected to the position in 2018. She held the position of Assistant House Minority Leader during her tenure.

Dobervich has focused her legislative work primarily on public health and human services, championing initiatives to strengthen maternal health, expand behavioral health services, and repeal an outdated HIV law. She also served on the Industry, Business and Labor, and Transportation committees, as well as interim committees for Health Services and Health Care Reform.

She and her husband, Eric, reside in Fargo.

Education

Dobervich holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Minot State University and is a *Licensed Social Worker * in North Dakota. She earned her *Master of Public Health from North Dakota State University *.

Political Experience

Before her legislative service, Dobervich worked extensively in healthcare and social services. She served as Public Health Policy Manager for the American Indian Public Health Resource Center at North Dakota State University's Public Health Department. She was previously the Vice President for North Dakota of the Minnesota-North Dakota Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association and has over 20 years of experience in geriatrics, including care giving, social engagement, professional and community education, care consultation, policy, and admission and marketing.

As of January 2026, Dobervich announced she would not seek re-election in November 2026.
