Biography
Gregorio Matías Rosario, born on April 2, 1972, in Ranchito, La Vega Puente Camú, Dominican Republic, moved to Puerto Rico at age 3 and was raised in San Juan communities including Valencia, San José, and the Manuel A. Pérez public housing. He represents the Partido Nuevo Progresista ** as an **at-large senator in the Puerto Rico Senate, currently serving as Portavoz de la Mayoría ** and **President of the Comisión de Seguridad Pública y Asuntos del Veterano for the 2025-2028 term. Notable achievements include securing Social Security benefits for police officers, obtaining over $680 million from the Fiscal Oversight Board for police, enabling 1,130 government employees to retire, and casting the decisive vote to end Puerto Rico's bankruptcy.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Associate degree in Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York.
- Political Experience: Served 27 years with the Puerto Rico Police, reaching the rank of Sergeant; recognized multiple times as "Agent of the Year" and "Sergeant of the Year." As Vicepresidente of the Asociación de Policías Organizados, advanced police rights.
