Biography
Representative Gregg Haddad
Gregg Haddad, a Democrat, represents Connecticut's 54th District in the House of Representatives, covering Mansfield and Storrs. First elected in 2010 and assuming office in 2011, he serves as Chair of the Higher Education & Employment Advancement Committee , and is a member of the Government Administration & Elections Committee and Appropriations Committee. He chairs the New England Board of Higher Education and its Legislative Advisory Committee. Notable achievements include authoring laws for free community college access and financial aid regardless of immigration status, plus supporting early voting and no-excuse absentee ballots. Previously, he served nine years on the ACCESS Community Action Agency Board and the Mansfield Downtown Partnership Board. Born March 21, 1966, in Willimantic, he lives in Storrs with his wife, Donna Becotte, and daughter Natalie.
Education and Political Experience
Haddad earned a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Connecticut in 1989. Before election, he worked 14 years with Senate Democrats as Legislative Aide to Senator Mary Ann Handley and Assistant Chief of Staff to Senator Donald E. Williams, Jr., and with the Connecticut Citizen Action Group.
