Biography

Greg Wallis is a Republican Assemblymember representing District 47 in California, covering portions of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, including cities like Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Banning, Beaumont, Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, La Quinta, Yucaipa, and Yucca Valley. A third-generation Californian born on May 15, 1990, he won one of the closest legislative races in California history in 2022 by just 85 votes against Democrat Christy Holstege and has served in the State Assembly since then. He lives in Bermuda Dunes with his wife Desiree, his high school sweetheart, and their two dogs, Great Dane Harley and Australian Cattle Dog Gunner. Wallis focuses on bipartisan issues like improving the economy, reducing crime, creating jobs, education, public safety, affordability, water storage, and energy reliability; he is a member of the Bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus and serves as vice chair of the Arts, Entertainment, Sports & Tourism Committee, with roles on committees including Governmental Organization, Utilities & Energy, Transportation, Jobs, Economic Development, and the Economy, Budget, Economic Development, Growth and Household Impact, Insurance, and Budget Subcommittee #3 on Education Finance.

Education and Political Experience

Wallis graduated from California Lutheran University with a degree in political science. Prior to his election, he served as Chief District Advisor to a local Assemblymember, where he worked on policies for affordability, renewable energy, education, and accessible healthcare. He has volunteered as a youth sports coach, including young golfers, supported his wife's work as a dance coach and ASB director, and aided the local Boys & Girls Club. In office, he has initiated 22 bills in one session and maintains a bipartisan approach.
