Biography

Greg Vitali is a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing the 166th district since 1993. Born on June 4, 1956, in Havertown, Pennsylvania, he is a lifelong resident of Haverford Township in Delaware County and has dedicated his career to environmental protection, serving as the Democratic chair of the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee. Notable achievements include being the first Pennsylvania legislator to introduce climate change legislation and a severance tax on natural gas; he has received numerous environmental awards, such as the 2014 Florence Neilson Environmental Award from Clean Water Action, 1997 Sierra Club Pennsylvania Chapter State Legislator of the Year, and others from PennFuture, PennEnvironment, and the Pennsylvania League of Conservation Voters. Vitali is often called "the Conscience of the Legislature" for his principled stands on issues like government reform, women's rights, criminal justice reform, sensible gun control, and public education.
