Biography
Greg Steuerwald is a Republican member of the Indiana House of Representatives, representing District 40 since his appointment in 2007. He has been re-elected multiple times and serves as House Majority Caucus Chair, Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, Chairman of the Ethics Committee, and a member of the Courts and Criminal Code Committee. An attorney and partner at Steuerwald, Witham & Youngs, LLP since 1981, he resides in Avon, Indiana, with his wife Christy and has three grown children. Notable achievements include authoring Indiana's criminal code revision for sentencing certainty and longer terms for violent offenders, and House Bill 1006 establishing officer decertification for misconduct, prohibiting chokeholds in certain cases, and criminalizing tampering with body cameras—legislation adopted as a model by other states. Awards include Legislator of the Year from the Indiana Sheriff’s Association and Indiana Chiefs of Police , Champions of Justice Award from the Indiana Judges Association , and President’s Citation from the Indiana State Bar Association .
