Greg Steube is a Republican representative serving Florida's 17th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives since 2019.

Biography

William "Greg" Gregory Steube has built a career defined by military service, law, and public service. He is married to Jennifer and has one child, Ethan. He resides in Sarasota with his family and their rescue dogs.

Steube's commitment to public service began immediately after the September 11th attacks. He enlisted in the U.S. Army while attending law school and completed basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Georgia, followed by Officer Candidate School and Infantry Officer Basic Course, graduating on the commandant's list as an Infantry Officer. After sustaining an injury during Ranger school, he transferred to the U.S. Army JAG Corps and served as Chief of Detainee Operations for Multinational Division North in Iraq with the 25th Infantry Division in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2006–2007.

Education

Steube earned both his undergraduate degree in Animal Science and his law degree from the University of Florida. He graduated from law school early to pursue his military service.

Committee Assignments:
Steube currently serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Through his Ways and Means assignment, he focuses on supporting Florida's small businesses, protecting farmers and ranchers, and providing oversight of the IRS and federal bureaucracy. As an Intelligence Committee member, he investigates surveillance abuses by intelligence agencies and works to protect Americans' civil liberties. He also serves on subcommittees focused on Oversight, Social Security, and Trade.
