Biography
Gregory Francis Murphy is a Republican U.S. Representative for North Carolina's 3rd congressional district, serving since September 2019. A practicing urologist and the only surgeon in Congress, he previously represented North Carolina's 9th District in the state General Assembly from 2015 to 2019. Notable achievements include authoring North Carolina's STOP Act and HOPE Act to combat the opioid crisis, chairing health policy committees in the state legislature, and serving on key House committees such as Ways and Means , Veterans' Affairs , and House Administration . He co-chairs the House Republican Doctors Caucus and Academic Medicine Caucus.
