Biography

Senator Greg Miller

Gregory Allen Miller is a Republican state senator from Louisiana representing Senate District 19, which encompasses Jefferson, Lafourche, St. Charles, and St. John the Baptist parishes. Born in May 1962 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Miller is an avid outdoorsman and member of conservation organizations including the Coastal Conservation Association and Ducks Unlimited. He has consistently advocated for gun owner rights, earning an "A" rating and endorsements from the National Rifle Association.

Education

Miller graduated from DeLaSalle High School in New Orleans in 1980. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Louisiana State University in 1985 and a Juris Doctor from LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1988.

Political Experience

Miller was elected to the Louisiana Senate on October 14, 2023, receiving 69% of the vote. He is eligible to serve through the end of the 2032-2036 term. In the state senate, he serves as Senate Parliamentarian and chairs the Judiciary A Committee. He also serves on the Local and Municipal Affairs Committee, Senate and Governmental Affairs Committee, and the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget.

Miller received a 100% Pro-Life voting record rating from Louisiana Right to Life in 2023. He has introduced numerous bills addressing civil procedure, judicial matters, tax collection, and criminal justice, including legislation creating the River Parishes Juvenile Justice District. He voted against a proposed moratorium on carbon capture projects in Lake Maurepas.
