Biography
Gregory Allen Elkins was born on October 10, 1964, and is a Republican politician from Kentucky. He currently serves as a State Senator representing District 28, a position he has held since June 8, 2023, following his victory in a special election on May 16, 2023. He represents Bath, Clark, Fayette , Menifee, and Montgomery counties.
Elkins resides in Winchester, Kentucky, and is affiliated with Heritage Baptist Church.
Education and Background
Elkins attended Missouri State University . He served in the Kentucky Army National Guard from 1983 to 1989.
Political Experience
Prior to his election to the state senate, Elkins served two terms as a Clark County Magistrate in Winchester, Kentucky, where he received a Certificate of Appreciation for his work.
Elkins fills the vacancy created by former Senator Ralph Alvarado, who stepped down to become Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Public Health.
As a state senator, Elkins serves as a member of the Interim Joint Committees on Local Government, State Government, Health Services, and Families and Children.
Professional Background
In addition to his political career, Elkins is a businessman and serves as CEO of Central Kentucky Hauling, a waste management company. He is also a member of the Clark County Fish and Game Club Board of Directors.
