Biography
Greg Bonnen is a Republican representative for Texas House District 24, which includes parts of Galveston County such as Friendswood, League City, Dickinson, Santa Fe, and surrounding coastal communities. First elected in 2013 and currently in his seventh term, he serves as Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee and is a practicing neurosurgeon. Notable achievements include leading efforts for over $18 billion in property tax relief, fully funding Operation Lone Star for border security, and passing balanced budgets; he has earned awards like Courageous Conservative, Guardian of Small Business, Texas Values Faith and Family Champion, and Pro-Life Hero. Born June 18, 1966, in Angleton, Texas, he lives in Friendswood with his wife Kim and two daughters.
Education
- B.S. in Biochemistry, Texas A&M University .
- M.D. and neurosurgery residency, University of Texas Medical Branch , where he served as assistant professor of neurosurgery for two years.
