Biography

Gregory Alexander is a Republican representing Michigan's 98th House District, which includes all of Huron County and portions of Lapeer, Sanilac, and Tuscola counties. Born on September 20, 1968, in Sandusky, Michigan, he was raised on a dairy farm in Sanilac County and resides in Carsonville with his wife, Patty, to whom he has been married for over 33 years; they have three children: Alyson, Joshua, and Matthew. A conservative Republican, Alexander owns and operates an apple orchard certified under the Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program and has nearly 40 years of experience in small business, retail, building, infrastructure, construction, excavating, and John Deere parts sales. He is actively involved in his Catholic faith, serving on the Holy Family Parish council, and holds leadership roles in community organizations such as the Knights of Columbus , Sanilac County Republican Party , and various boards including Karegnondi Water Authority .

Education and Political Experience

Alexander graduated from Carsonville-Port Sanilac High School and earned certificates of completion from Hillsdale College.

His political career includes serving as Sanilac County Drain Commissioner since 2008, where he managed drain maintenance, water mains, sewers, and implemented modern technology for efficiency. He also held roles as Utility and Community Development Director for the City of Croswell, Chair of the Sanilac County Board of Public Works, and member of the Landfill and Recycling Board. Elected to the Michigan House in November 2022 and reelected in 2024, he is in his second term as of 2026, serving as Vice Chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and on the Agriculture, Election Integrity, and Finance Committees. Notable community service includes past presidencies in the Sandusky Optimist Club, Deckerville Lions Club, and Sanilac Tourism Association, plus involvement in the Sanilac County Fairboard and Michigan Right to Farm GAAMP Committee.
