Senator Grant Hauschild is a Democratic-Farmer-Labor member representing Senate District 3 in Minnesota, the largest and most rural district in the state, covering Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, and St. Louis counties in the Arrowhead Region, including the North Shore, East Iron Range, two Tribal Nations, Superior National Forest, Voyageurs National Park, and Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Elected in 2022 and in his first term as of 2023, he serves as Assistant Majority Leader, Vice Chair of the Labor Committee, and member of the Education Policy, Environment & Climate, and Taxes Committees. Notable achievements include chief-authoring the first bill to secure extended benefits for Northshore miners early in his term; contributing to the largest tax relief package and bonding bill in state history in 2023; and leading 2024 efforts on rural Emergency Medical Services, permitting reform, and an Iron Range bonding bill providing over $80 million for infrastructure and property tax relief. His priorities focus on childcare costs, economic development, worker support, rural funding, and community success.
