Biography
Gordon E. Rogers is a Republican State Senator representing District 21 in Rhode Island, which includes Coventry, Foster, Scituate, and West Greenwich. Elected to the Senate in November 2018, he serves as Senate Minority Whip , making him an ex-officio member of all standing Senate committees. He is Secretary of the Senate Committee on Housing & Municipal Government, a member of the Senate Committee on Environment & Agriculture, and has previously served on the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Senate Committee on Rules, Government Ethics & Oversight. In 2023, he was appointed to the Rhode Island Emergency Management Advisory Council. A Foster native raised on a dairy farm, Rogers owns three small businesses: GTH Construction, Stone House Inn, and Rogers Farm. He works full-time as DPW Director and Assistant Emergency Director for Foster, volunteers as a lieutenant with the Moosup Valley Fire Department and as an EMT, and has championed rural community issues like local roadway repairs and school safety funding.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Ponaganset High School.
- Political Experience: Elected President of the Foster Town Council in 2010, serving three terms; past member of the Foster Economic Development Advisory Committee and Foster Police Station Building Committee; elected to Rhode Island State Senate in 2018.
