Biography

Glenn H. Gruenhagen is a Republican Minnesota State Senator representing District 17, which includes communities in Carver, McLeod, Meeker, Sibley, and Wright counties. Elected to the Senate in 2022, he is serving his first term after six terms in the Minnesota House of Representatives . Raised on a dairy farm near Glencoe, Minnesota, he owns Gruenhagen Insurance and Financial Services, holds designations as a Chartered Financial Consultant and Chartered Life Underwriter , and has been involved in community service, including 16 years on the Glencoe Silver Lake school board, Glencoe Rotary membership, and 13 years in jail ministry. Married to Emily since 1975, they have three daughters and five grandchildren.

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Attended Dr. Martin Luther Academy in New Ulm and graduated from Glencoe High School; studied at Willmar Junior College, North Hennepin Community College, and the University of Minnesota ; earned ChFC and CLU from The American College.
