Biography
Gil Gatch
Gil Gatch is a Republican representing South Carolina's 94th House District, which encompasses Charleston and Dorchester counties with approximately 40,000 residents. Born on June 18, 1981, in Charleston, South Carolina, he is a native of Summerville, South Carolina.
Before entering electoral politics, Gil worked as an associate pastor in Charlotte, North Carolina, for seven years following his seminary education. He maintains a private law practice, Gil Gatch Law, and is known for advocating limited government, personal responsibility, and individual liberty while opposing government overreach.
Education
Gil graduated from Southern Evangelical Seminary before pursuing law and ministry work. He later earned his Juris Doctor from Georgetown Law School in 2019, where he served as a student fellow for Georgetown's Center for the Constitution and held the Chair of Mentorship in the Georgetown Law chapter of the Federalist Society.
Political Experience
During his time in Washington, D.C., Gil interned for United States Senator Tim Scott and participated in the Heritage Foundation's Young Leaders Program in The Meese Center for Legal and Judicial Studies. After law school, he clerked for The Honorable Diane S. Goodstein of South Carolina's First Judicial Circuit.
Gil was subsequently elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives, where he currently serves District 94. His office is located at 310B Blatt Building in Columbia, South Carolina.
