Gerald Edward Greene is a Republican representative for District 154 in the Georgia House of Representatives, serving Baker, Calhoun, Clay, Early, Miller, Quitman, Randolph, and Seminole counties, as well as a portion of Dougherty County. First elected in 1982, he has provided over 36 years of service and currently holds positions including Chairman of the State Properties Committee and Vice Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Economic Development. Notable achievements include being named STAR Teacher of the Year in 1977 and 1993, receiving the Distinguished Alumni Award from Andrew College, and earning Rural Health’s Distinguished Legislator of the Year for two consecutive years; he was also shot in 2017 while carrying storm relief funds.

Education and Political Experience

• Education: Attended Andrew College for two years, graduated from Georgia Southern University in 1970 , earned a Master’s in Education from the University of Georgia, and a Master’s in History from Georgia Southwestern. Taught social studies in the Randolph-Clay School System for 32 years and instructed political science and western civilization at Andrew College for over 10 years; now retired.
• Political Experience: Elected to the Georgia House in 1982 and sworn in January 10, 1983, with no prior political experience; serves on committees including Economic Development & Tourism, Public Safety and Homeland Security, Retirement, Rules, and Rural Development; member of the Recreational Authorities Overview Committee and Georgia Association of Educators; faithful member of Springvale Baptist Church.
