Biography
Gerald Boudreaux is a Democratic State Senator representing District 24 in the Louisiana State Senate, covering Lafayette, St. Landry, and St. Martin Parishes. Elected in 2015, he was sworn in on January 11, 2016, and re-elected in 2019 and 2023 for his third and final term, sworn in on January 8, 2024. From Lafayette, Louisiana, he previously served as Director of Parks and Recreation in Lafayette until resigning in 2020 following budget cuts. Notable achievements include officiating NCAA basketball from 1984-2006 and supervising Southeastern Conference officials from 2006-2013. He holds awards such as 2024 Optometry Association of LA Legislator of the Year, Innocence Project New Orleans Stand for Justice Award, and Coastal Conservation Association Conservation Champion. Boudreaux serves on boards including Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, Miles Perret Cancer Services Center, Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System, and chairs the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Committee .
