George Muñoz is an American politician born and raised in Gallup, New Mexico, where he continues to reside. He is a businessman and general contractor who owns and operates Muñoz Corporation, a firm specializing in construction and infrastructure development. Beyond his legislative work, Muñoz has been actively involved in community organizations, addressing local issues including poverty, infrastructure, and environmental conservation.
Education
Muñoz graduated from Gallup High School. He attended the University of Arizona but did not complete his degree.
Political Experience
Muñoz has represented New Mexico Senate District 4 since 2009. He first ran for office in 2008 when incumbent Democratic Senator Lidio Rainaldi retired. He won the four-way Democratic Primary with 1,933 votes and secured the general election with 10,897 votes against Republican nominee Beatrice Woodward. In the 2012 Democratic Primary, he emerged victorious in a three-way race with 2,614 votes and was unopposed in the general election, winning with 11,673 votes.
