Gayle Manning (House District 0052)

Gayle Manning is a Republican state representative serving her fourth term in the Ohio House of Representatives for District 52, which includes the northeastern portion of Lorain County such as North Ridgeville, Elyria, and Avon. Born March 2, 1950, in Elyria, she is a widowed mother of two children, Allison and Nathan. A lifelong Northeast Ohio resident, Manning previously served two terms in the Ohio Senate , where she was Majority Whip and Vice Chair of the Finance Committee. Notable achievements include being elected the first woman Speaker Pro Tempore of the Ohio House at the start of the 136th General Assembly, sponsoring life-saving legislation for quicker access to cell phone records in missing persons cases and naloxone distribution to combat drug overdoses, and advocating for education, Lake Erie protection, and stronger laws against child enticement. She has received awards such as Legislator of the Year from the Ohio County Engineers and Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association.

• Education: Bachelor's degree in education from Kent State University; Master's of Science in Reading from the University of Akron.
• Professional Background: 37-year career as an elementary school teacher in North Olmsted City Schools, earning Educator of the Year from the North Olmsted PTA Council and the Teacher in American Enterprise Award from the Ohio Council on Economic Education.
