Gary L. Woods

Gary L. Woods is a Democratic politician and member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, representing Merrimack District 30, which encompasses Wards 5, 6, 7, and 8 in Concord. He was born around 1942 and has been a longtime resident of the Concord area, having lived in Concord from 1982-1997, Bow from 1997-2022, and returning to Concord in 2022.

Education and Medical Career

Woods is a retired orthopedic hand surgeon who practiced for 39 years, including 32 years at Concord Orthopaedics from 1982-2014. He has held significant positions within the medical community, including serving as President of the New Hampshire Medical Society in 2005 and spending 18 years as an NH Delegate to the American Medical Association House of Delegates, where he was elected to serve 8 years on the Council on Science and Public Health.

Political Experience

Woods served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from 2018-2022, representing Bow and Dunbarton. He was subsequently elected to return to the House in 2024 and currently serves the Concord district. During his legislative tenure, he was selected to serve on the Problem Solvers committee, an ad hoc bipartisan group of 40 legislators that meets regularly to explore areas of mutual legislative interest.

Throughout his career, Woods has held numerous commissions and advisory positions, including service on the Blue Ribbon Commission on Health Care , the Commission on the Environmental and Public Health Impacts of PFAS Chemicals, and the New Hampshire Worker's Compensation Advisory Council, where he served as chair for approximately five years. He also served on the Board of Directors for Heavenwood Heritage Heights for nine years and currently serves on its Trust Fund Board.
