Gabriel "Gabe" Rodriguez

Gabriel "Gabe" Rodriguez is an American Democratic Party politician serving as a member of the New Jersey General Assembly for the 33rd legislative district, having taken office on January 9, 2024. A resident of West New York, New Jersey, he represents a district that includes West New York, Union City, North Bergen, Weehawken, Guttenberg, and Secaucus in Hudson County.

Rodriguez was born on December 6, 1978. He has dedicated much of his career to public service in the Hudson County area. Currently employed by the West New York School District as an accounting manager, Rodriguez has built a distinguished record in local government before advancing to the state level.

Education

Rodriguez earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from New Jersey City University. He furthered his education by obtaining an Executive Master's degree in Business Administration from the New Jersey Institute of Technology School of Management.

Political Experience

Rodriguez's career in public service spans nearly two decades. Early in his career, he worked as a staffer at the Assembly Majority Office. He subsequently served as Campaign Manager and Finance Director for U.S. Representative Albio Sires from 2008 to 2017, working alongside prominent political figures including Governors Jim McGreevy and Jon Corzine, Senator Bob Menendez, and Representative Sires.

At the local level, Rodriguez served as a West New York Town Commissioner for four years, where he held responsibility for the Departments of Public Works, Revenue and Finance, and Public Safety. He was elected Mayor of West New York on May 14, 2019, and served through 2023, leading the municipality through significant challenges including the COVID-19 pandemic and various infrastructure crises.

In his current role as Assembly Member, Rodriguez serves on the Budget and Public Safety and Preparedness committees. He also holds the position of Constituent Outreach Chair for the 2026 legislative session.
