Biography
Representative Fue Lee is a member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor ** party, representing **District 59A in North Minneapolis, Minnesota, which includes parts of Hennepin County. Born in a refugee camp in Thailand to Hmong parents from Laos, he immigrated to the United States in 1992 as a toddler and grew up in Minneapolis. He is the first Hmong-American to represent Minneapolis in the Minnesota Legislature and a founding member of the People of Color and Indigenous Caucus and Minnesota Asian Pacific Caucus. Notable achievements include serving as Chair of the Capital Investment Committee, with prior roles as Assistant Democratic Leader . His legislative interests focus on education, public safety, and environmental justice.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: B.A. in political science and international relations from Carleton College.
- Political Experience: Elected to the Minnesota House in 2016 ; previously worked at the Minnesota House of Representatives and in the Office of Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon; interned or volunteered for U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison and Steve Simon. Serves on committees including Agriculture Finance and Policy, Environment and Natural Resources Finance and Policy, Climate and Energy Finance and Policy, Commerce Finance and Policy, and Redistricting.
