Biography
Senator Frank Ginn is a Republican representing Georgia Senate District 47, which includes Madison County and portions of Barrow, Jackson, and Clarke counties. Elected in 2010 and sworn in January 2011, he serves as Chairman of the Economic Development and Tourism Committee, with roles including Appropriations member, Natural Resources and the Environment ex-officio, Regulated Industries and Utilities member, and Transportation secretary. He works as a consulting engineer focused on utility expansion, economic development, transportation, and civil site development, and lives on a family farm in Madison County with his wife Robin and daughter Catherine, raising livestock, timber, and hay.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Georgia in 1985; served as President of the Ag Hill Council, first student on the Ag Alumni Board, on President Davison’s University Council, and president of the AgHon Honor Society.
- Professional Experience: Began as an engineer at Jackson EMC, rising to Director of Member Services; City Manager/Treasurer for Royston; City Manager for Sugar Hill in Gwinnett County; first County Manager for Franklin County .
- Political Experience: Elected to Georgia Senate in 2010; key committee leadership in economic development, utilities, and transportation; graduate of Leadership Athens and Madison County Leadership; serves on boards including Georgia Public Safety Training Center Advisory Board, libraries, chambers of commerce, and professional engineering society; member of Rotary International, Lions Club, and Georgia Cattlemen’s Association.
