Biography
Frank M. Conaway Jr. is a Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates representing District 40 in Baltimore City. Born on January 4, 1963, in Baltimore, Maryland, he has served since January 10, 2007, following his election in 2006. He is part of a family political dynasty in Baltimore dating back to the 1960s and previously ran unsuccessfully for President of the Baltimore City Council in 1999.
Notable achievements include long-term service on the Judiciary Committee , with various subcommittees such as Civil Law and Procedure , Public Safety , and Criminal Law & Procedure . He sponsored legislation requiring the Maryland Attorney General to investigate police-involved deaths , doubled maximum payouts in police brutality cases , supported the Gun Safety Bill of 2023 increasing penalties for illegal handgun possession, and voted for minimum wage increases and Johns Hopkins University's private police force .
