Biography

Francisco V. Aguilar , known as Cisco Aguilar, is an American lawyer and politician serving as Nevada's Secretary of State since 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, he was elected in 2022, defeating Republican Jim Marchant, and became the first Latino to hold the office. Contrary to the query, Aguilar is not a Republican and does not represent a specific district, as the Secretary of State is a statewide elected position.

Notable achievements include championing a bipartisan bill signed by Governor Joe Lombardo making harassment of election workers a felony, leading Nevada through the 2024 presidential election, expanding language access for voters, increasing youth voter turnout above the national average, and serving as chair of the Democratic Association of Secretaries of State for the 2026 cycle. He has also recruited poll workers via partnerships like Vet the Vote and pushed for voting at Allegiant Stadium.
