Biography

Eva-Dina Delgado

Eva-Dina Delgado is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives representing the 3rd District, which encompasses diverse Chicago neighborhoods including Wicker Park, Bucktown, Humboldt Park, Logan Square, Hermosa, Belmont Cragin, Montclare, and Dunning. She was appointed to the seat in November 2019 following the resignation of former representative Luis Arroyo.

Before her election to the Illinois General Assembly, Delgado built a career in government affairs and community relations. She worked for the City of Chicago and the Chicago Transit Authority , serving as the first Latina Vice President of Government and Community Relations. In this role, she advocated for local, state, and federal community needs and developed partnerships that advanced infrastructure investment, environmental sustainability, and equitable economic growth.

Delgado lives in the Logan Square neighborhood with her husband and daughter. She has been actively involved with community organizations, serving on the boards of Lawyers Lend-a-Hand to Youth and Saint Anthony Hospital, and previously serving on the board of Instituto del Progreso Latino.

Education

Delgado holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from Wellesley College and a Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law.

Political Experience

In the Illinois House, Delgado serves in a leadership role as Assistant Majority Leader and Co-Budgeteer. She chairs the Immigration & Human Rights Committee and serves as Vice-Chair of the Public Utilities Committee. Her other committee assignments include Child Care Access & Early Childhood, Commercial & Property, Financial Institutions & Licensing, Gaming, Judiciary - Civil, and Transportation: Vehicles & Safety.

Delgado's legislative priorities focus on fiscal responsibility, affordable housing, accessible healthcare, environmental sustainability, and transit equity. She has earned recognition for her collaborative approach and work negotiating the budget on behalf of House Democrats.

Notable recognitions include being named a Leadership Greater Chicago fellow in 2010, serving on the Chicago Police Board from 2016 to 2019, receiving the "Rising Star" designation by the Women's Energy Summit in 2016, and being included in Who's Who in Latino Business by Negocios Now in 2019. She is an active member of the Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus and the House Democratic Women's Caucus, and serves as a board member of the Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus Foundation.
