Biography

Representative Erin Gámez ** represents **Texas House District 38, which includes part of Cameron County, primarily in the Brownsville area. Born and raised in Brownsville, she is the first female representative for this district and was the youngest serving member at the time of her election in a special election, sworn in on March 30, 2022. Notable achievements include being named the Mexican American Legislative Caucus’ Freshman of the Year; serving on the Texas House Board of Managers to present articles of impeachment against Attorney General Warren Kenneth Paxton; and holding positions as Vice Chair of the Mexican American Legislative Caucus, Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, and member of several caucuses including Criminal Justice Reform, Texas Water, Innovation and Technology , Transportation Excellence, Texas House LGBTQ, and Climate and Energy.

  • Education: Graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in December 2010; earned a J.D. from South Texas College of Law in May 2014.
