Erika Uyterhoeven is a Democratic state representative for the 27th Middlesex District in Massachusetts, primarily serving Somerville. A daughter of immigrants and self-described democratic socialist affiliated with the Democratic Socialists of America , she is a three-term representative known for advocating government transparency, progressive causes, and tough fights on key issues. Prior to elected office, she worked as an antitrust economist, political activist, and organizer with groups like Momentum in the UK. She successfully ran in 2020 to replace retiring Rep.
