Biography
Representative Erika Hancock
Erika Marie Hancock is a Democratic member of the Kentucky House of Representatives representing District 57 in part of Franklin County. She has served since January 2025, elected in 2024 after defeating Kristie Powe in the Democratic primary and Republican Kyle T. Thompson in the general election with 54.4% of the vote.
Born on July 16, 1978, in Frankfort, Kentucky, Hancock is a mother of two—a daughter, Pauli , and a son, Houston —and has been married to Franklin County Clerk Jeff Hancock for 23 years. A successful businesswoman, she became one of the youngest female State Farm agents in 2001 by taking over Sallye Hill Stumbo’s office. She is Methodist and actively serves her community on boards including United Way, Sunshine Center, and the Site-Based Decision-Making Council for Bondurant Middle School, as well as the finance committee at First United Methodist Church. Notable committee assignments include Elections, Constitutional Amendments & Intergovernmental Affairs, Natural Resources & Energy, State Government, Subcommittee on Personnel, Public Retirement & Finance, Banking & Insurance, and Tobacco Settlement Agreement Fund Oversight Committee.
Education and Political Experience
Hancock holds a bachelor’s degree in integrated strategic communications from the University of Kentucky. Her political career began with her 2024 election to the Kentucky House, succeeding retiring Representative Derrick Graham, marking her entry into the General Assembly in 2025. Prior to elected office, her experience centered on business leadership and community involvement in Frankfort.
